October Update–Happy Birthday Legacy!

Anniversary Celebration

Last weekend, Legacy celebrated our one year anniversary.  Itwas a very exciting day.  Preparing for this weekend, we sent out three mailers letting people know about us and reminding people that we are still around.  Each mailer was sent out to about 30,000 households.  In the months and weeks leading up the anniversary, we kept asking God to “Do It Again.”  We wanted to see God bring more people again to Legacy.  We wanted to see God start a new and mighty work more lives in our community.  We wanted to see God start leaving a “legacy” again in people’s lives.  And our prayers saw fruit.  We had 185 in attendance–a number we haven’t seen since last October.  It was a very good weekend of celebration.  I must admit that every week I am constantly surprised to see at least one new family!  God is good.

More important than our attendance numbers, we have seen 19 baptisms since January.  Our next baptism service is on October 24th.  We are planning on baptizing at least 8 more people into Christ, with the possibility of up to 11.  It is so exciting to see so many new people start their relationships with Jesus and to watch them grow.

Serve the City

The weekend before our anniversary, we had over 45 people participate in Legacy’s first day of service.  We called it “Serve the City.”  We chose the name because we wanted to help move people into service–service to our neighbors, community and city.  One of the core values at Legacy is to leave a “community legacy,” and this is one way to we do that.  “Serve the City” included five different projects around our community.

The projects included:

  • Partnering with the Menomonee Falls Health Care Center to entertain and inspire the residents by bowling with them and also helped clean up their back patio and yard.
  • Making sack lunches for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
  • Sending a group to House of Love Ministries in Milwaukee to help sort through and clean one of their facilities.
  • Assembling over 280 teacher appreciation gifts that will be distributed to all the elementary school teachers, aides and office  workers of the Menomonee Falls School District

It is amazing how much fun serving can truly be.  We hope to have another “Serve the City” in the Spring.  Click here to read an article written about us serving our city. And below you will see a video recapping our service weekend.

Please Pray

Thanks so much for continuing to pray for Legacy! The ministry here would not be seeing the fruit that we are without people like you praying for us. It would be great if you could join us in prayer about these things:

  • We have had 19 baptisms to date!  Pray for those who have been baptized and encourage them in their walk with God. And pray for those being baptized in two weeks.
  • Continue to pray for Legacy as we more opportunities to become an integral part of Menomonee Falls.  People are noticing we are a church that is different.  Pray that we use that for God’s advantage to reach more people for Christ.
  • Pray for Katie and I’s relationship, that we will continue to glorify God through our relationship and be a shining light to those around us.  (We just celebrated our one year anniversary in September.  Crazy how time flies).
  • Please pray that our support will continue to come in.  We are currently at about 95% committed and 35% percent received.  God is good and has taken care of all our needs.  We are so blessed.

We appreciate your interest in Legacy! And thanks for continuing to pray for our us and the new church.  If you would like to receive our updates, please fill out the information below.
